About Child Safety
The Peace Kids has been specifically created as a safe place for children on the Internet. We certainly hope that the children on The Peace Kids will meet other kids and talk about the projects and share their successes and ideas for peace building projects. The web site is built with this focus.
There are differences, however, between The Peace Kids and other social networking sites on the Internet and the safeguards we have instituted to ensure that a child's experirence on the site is a positive one and one that is protected from unwanted elements. These include:
Children register and communicate by first name only on the site.
They do not post photos of themselves or other personal information that could be used to identify them.
There is no Instant Messaging between members of The Peace Kids. All communication is out in the open for everyone to see. And our moderators watch all posts in the blogs and forums.
As an additional note, projects on The Peace Kids are never political. There will be time enough for political discussions when they are older and have been exposed to more diverse views. For now, we focus on building peace by engaging in cross-cultural exchanges and improving the lives of children in other parts of the world.
