Savings lives of children in conflict areas

When children are caught up on a war, their whole lives are often turned upside down. Many children have to leave their homes with their parents to find safety in a refugee camp.

In these camps, their families try to create a normal life for their childen. They try to keep them going to school, and playing, but there often just aren't enough resources to do this.

The other thing that happens in refugee camps is that children can get ill. One of the problems they face is mosquitoes.

We have problems with mosquitoes, too. They bite and the bumps they leave behind are itchy and sometimes painful. But for a child in a refugee camp, that mosquito may be carrying malaria or other diseases that can threaten a child's life.

Today you can help children whose lives have been torn up by war. With just $10, you can send a mosquito net to a child in a refugee camp. And you can have fun doing it.

The good news is, The Peace Kids now has a team set up at Nothing But Nets, the mosquito net program run by the United Nations Foundation, that gets mosquito nets right to the kids in refugee camps in Sudan, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.

Now you or your class or even your whole school can be a part of The Peace Kids team! Already one school in Los Angeles has had a bake sale and started sending nets over to a refugee camp, and we can all work together to come up with ideas for more ways to do get more nets over to these kids.

We would love to hear from you and hear your bright ideas for raising money and getting nets to children in war torn areas. You can just click on "add comment" below to tell us what you think.
